OUR MISSION
“The Epilepsy Association is dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders and reducing the incidence of onset.”
Established in 1962, The Epilepsy Association is a not-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to serving the needs of those affected by epilepsy. The Association now reaches millions each month in over 150 countries with epilepsy news, education and support. In its’ home of Central Florida, it provides direct epilepsy-related medical care to the uninsured and economically disadvantaged as well as epilepsy education and prevention programs. We are governed by a local elected volunteer Board of Directors that represent a cross-section of professionals, civic leaders, and consumers that are responsible for directing the activities of our agency.

OUR SERVICES:
CASE MANAGEMENT
Individual case management is provided, including an action plan tailored for the specific needs of our clients and families.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Medical Services are provided to those in need. These services include diagnostics such as:
- Electroencephalograms (EEGs)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRIs)
- Initial neurological evaluations
- Follow-up appointments in our epilepsy clinic,
- Laboratory (blood) testing
- Epilepsy medications
- …and more.
PREVENTION AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Prevention and Education programs and activities are provided to individuals, groups and professionals by a full-time professional health educator. We offer programs to public and private schools (faculty and students), legal and medical professionals, law enforcement agencies, emergency medical personnel, health professionals and more. Let us know what your group requires. We can also address issues concerning the myths and facts about epilepsy, the prevention of epilepsy, and many other topics to area civic and professional organizations, employers, the general public as well as any interested individual or group.
PROVIDING RESOURCES
Our innovative website, www.EPILEPSYU.com, is an online epilepsy resource. Offering the most current epilepsy news from around the world, to educate on epilepsy, offer support, and inform via a social media platform where those with seizure disorders can keep up with the latest information and share their issues.
INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES
Information and Referral Services are available to assist someone when the services and resources of the Association are not enough. Using the vast network of social service agencies and professional services in Central Florida, The Epilepsy Association will gladly assist in the referral process. We attempt to provide as much information as we can obtain to assist individuals with their needs.
ADVOCACY
Advocacy services are made available through the Association, when appropriate, to insure equal treatment, rights and access. Assistance is provided to individuals such as persons affected by epilepsy and employers.The Epilepsy Association advocates for epilepsy issues on local, state and at national levels.
SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
The Epilepsy Association has created www.EpilepsyStore.com, an online store to advance epilepsy awareness and earn income to support our direct medical and prevention education activities by selling epilepsy awareness merchandise. EpilepsyStore.com is the official store of Purple Day® and Purple Day Everyday® products of the Anita Kaufman Foundation.
